Can't Get Enough

Earlier this week I went out and bought Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. I am sure that it has been clear that I already own RE4 for Gamecube, but the Wii Edition comes with all the goodies that the PS2 version had, plus the controls were tweaked for the Wii. In short: I love this game. Played through this week beating it in roughly ten and a half hours, then quickly started the Mercenaries rampage. I have unlocked all characters already and have broken 100 k twice. The first time was mighty damn fine of me, reaching 157,000 with Wesker in the castle, whomping up a personal best combo of 109. It was kinda upsetting seeing I came very close to breaking my all-time best score, but for my first attempt with Wesker, and only my third attempt at Mercenaries, I am very proud of myself. The second 100k was with Krauser at the island, and that has always been a tough one for me, but Krauser really makes it work with his spear arm. I look forward to completing my five star rankings on Mercenaries and playing through the other unlocked mini-games later this week. Thank you for welcoming me back to my blog!

Wesker at the Castle

Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries

Here we go once again. After a quick warmup with Leon and Krauser, I felt that Wesker could pull it off again at the Waterworld. Luckily, I started in the corner room and instead of switing immediately to the rifle, I kept the handgun. Knowing that it has a high critical hit ratio, I started to blast the baddies in the face and watch their heads explode. My combo was up to 15 before I even had to move.

Still with the handgun, I ran smoothly along inside the elevated building, picking up time bonuses. I then went for the kill bonus before proceeding to the roof, where I ran for that time bonus afterward, still with the handgun.

After hearing the revving of a chainsaw I took out the rifle finally and dropped my silencer, seeing as how I wouldn't need it any longer. Firring away with the semi automatic rifle, I plowed down Mr. Chainsaw and any ganados that were rushing at me. By this time my combo was around 30.

I slid from the roof of the elevated building to the other one, grabbing all the time I could, and decapitating any freak I saw. The combo ended at 44, and I picked up anything I could: health, ammo, grenades, and more time.

I took shelter outside that building, and then switched to the Killer 7 Magnum. Ran out of bullets quick, because they magically flew into the skulls of crazy people. I was on the move again to pick up more time and kill bonuses.

Then it hit me. I had a 30+ combo running, more than a minute left, and a standing score aroun 90k. Do the math. The combo ran out and my score was up to 112k. The new high. But I saw two time bonuses left, and it's go big or go home.

Sadly I couldn't rack up many more kills, and I couldn't find any more soldiers for the last 90 seconds. But, this is my end result:

Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries

Yessir! Slowly but surely. Jeff was my witness for the extreme firepower known and RE4 Mercenaries. And when you look at this new highscore, you should keep in mind there was another 30 second time extension that I chose NOT to pick up at the end. Think of the possibilities.

Village: 102,900
Castle: 108,870 (see below)
Military Base: 96,470
Waterworld: 95,990

Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries

Well, the quest for 100,000 continues. It should be 2-4, but I sorta lost my head. I am super close. High scores are as follows (note, all accomplished with Albert Wesker):

Village: 102,900
Castle: 99,290 (see below)
Military Base: 96,470
Waterworld: 95,990

IGN knows their stuff

Yep, I am keeping this alive. Mainly to say one thing:

On IGN's Top 20 Essential Gamecube games, they included Killer 7. IGN is the only video game resource that respects this game for what it is worth. They also through in REmake and RE4, I love them both. They also included games that I need to get, such as Prince of Persia and Battalion Wars. Way to go IGN. I love you.
